Another opportunity to build connections with contractors behind some of the biggest projects reshaping Darlington has been confirmed.

The latest Tees Engineering Network (TEN) event will take place from 8am on Tuesday, 30 June at The Darlington Arena, Mowden Park, Darlington.

Willmott Dixon, the lead contractor working alongside developer Cityheart on the transformation of Darlington town centre, will be speaking alongside Kier Construction, which is delivering the new Government Hub taking shape now at the Brunswick Street site.

Both contractors are looking to strengthen links with local businesses and the regional supply chain, making the event a key opportunity for firms to connect with decision-makers and understand how to get involved.

The Cityheart agreement was recently unveiled at UKREiiF, in Leeds, with Darlington Borough Council working together in a joint venture to support long-term growth in the town centre.

Tees Valley Mayor Ben Houchen said: “Darlington is attracting major investment and I want local firms to be first in line to benefit from it, meaning more money staying in our region and in the pockets of local people.

“We’ve already shown through projects like Darlington Station that our local firms have the skills, expertise and ambition to deliver major schemes. It’s vital that local businesses get a look in on fantastic new opportunities like this, making sure the benefits of this investment are felt right here in our region.”

Regular TEN breakfast events bring together subcontractors, manufacturers, project developers and engineering professionals from across the Tees Valley to hear about upcoming work, exchange expertise and strengthen collaboration.

Sharon Lane, Managing Director of Tees Components and TEN organiser, said: “Darlington is seeing major schemes moving forward so this is a great time to have one of our popular TEN events. It brings contractors and local businesses together in one room and helps turn plans into real opportunities for the local supply chain.”

Delivered with support from Tees Valley Combined Authority, TEN is led by Axiom Engineering Associates Ltd and Tees Components Ltd, helping ensure local firms are aware of and ready to benefit from major developments across the region.

The new Brunswick campus will become the home of the Darlington Economic Campus, bringing together seven Government departments and around 1,600 civil servants.

Willmott Dixon will outline proposals including a new commercial quarter linked to the Economic Campus, new residential areas and a flagship STEM centre at the Science Park.

Kier Construction will also provide insight into the Government Hub project and its commitment to using local suppliers and workforce wherever possible.

Attendees will have the chance to meet key contractors, connect with peers and explore future opportunities for their businesses.

Cllr Steve Harker, Leader of Darlington Borough Council, said: “These are significant developments for Darlington.

“It's really important that local businesses are given the opportunity to benefit, and events like this help make those connections happen.

“So, if you think your business has the potential to be involved, come along.”

Places are limited and are expected to fill quickly.

The event will be held at the Darlington Arena, Mowden Park, Neasham Road, Darlington, DL2 1DL.
