In conversation: Tiffany

Tiffany
Fresh from delighting audiences on
The Masked Singer, preparing for a major UK tour with Kim Wilde and celebrating the release of her new cookbook,
Pop Life, Tiffany is as busy as ever. Yet despite a career spanning decades, she remains wonderfully down-to-earth, warm and refreshingly easy to chat to.
In fact, before getting onto the serious business of music and cookery, Tiffany happily threw herself into a round of completely random questions reminiscent of the old Smash Hits Biscuit Tin with the enthusiasm of someone who genuinely enjoys having a laugh.
Asked what colour January would be, she didn't hesitate for long.
"Blue," she said thoughtfully. "I love the colour blue. It's calming."
Her answer quickly turned into a charming reflection on how her approach to the New Year has changed over time.
"I used to go into January all crazy with resolutions," she laughed. "Now I'm much more realistic. I still set goals, but I ease into the year a little bit. Plus, the weather's usually pretty rubbish, so all those things I want to do suddenly become a bit harder."
When presented with the challenge of assembling a band made entirely of vegetables, Tiffany immediately cast a carrot as lead singer.
"I think carrots have personality," she grinned. "They've got attitude. We're a carrot family over here."
The conversation continued in much the same wonderfully unpredictable fashion, covering spontaneous runs with no destination, adding trumpet solos to classic hits and her favourite biscuits. While Americans might call them cookies, Tiffany revealed a long-standing love for animal graham crackers before confessing a more recent obsession with Harry Potter Butterbeer biscuits.
That admission led to one of the interview's most delightful revelations: Tiffany's Harry Potter-themed kitchen.
"My kitchen is Harry Potter," she laughed. "I've painted it black with gold accents everywhere. I call it the Harry Potter kitchen."
Her affection for the wizarding world doesn't stop there.
"Whenever I'm working, I always have a Harry Potter film on in the background. I know them word for word, so I don't really have to watch them, but it's comforting."

It's this combination of humour, openness and enthusiasm that makes Tiffany such an engaging conversationalist. Whether she's talking about pop music, fantasy films or food, her excitement is infectious.
Speaking of music, Tiffany is understandably thrilled about her upcoming UK tour alongside Kim Wilde.
When the opportunity arose, accepting was an easy decision.
"I was over the moon that they asked me," she said.
The admiration she has for Wilde clearly runs deep. The two were label mates during Tiffany's early career, and she recalls meeting her several times during those formative years.
"I've always been a fan of Kim Wilde. Not just her music, but also the way she's handled her career. As a woman in the music industry, she was very inspiring to me."
Fans attending the shows can expect plenty of familiar favourites, including
I Think We're Alone Now,
Could've Been,
Radio Romance and
I Saw Him Standing There. However, Tiffany is also keen to breathe new life into the songs that audiences know and love.
"We're extending some of them and reworking them a little bit," she explained. "Not changing what people love about them, but adding some new production and fun moments. I want more fan engagement and more reminiscing."
Before those tour dates arrive, however, Tiffany is focusing on her latest passion project: Pop Life.
Part cookbook, part memoir and part musical companion, the book perfectly reflects Tiffany's many interests.
"I've been a foodie for a long time," she explained.
Her love of food began during her early touring years. While many young artists might have spent their downtime in hotels, Tiffany was always eager to explore local restaurants and discover regional specialities.

"I wanted to know where the locals went. I'd ask fans where I should eat and what I should try."
Those culinary adventures became a way of connecting with different cultures around the world.
"People are very proud of their food," she said. "Food and music really tell you who people are."
Back home, she would attempt to recreate dishes she'd discovered on tour, often dragging her patient mother around supermarkets in search of unfamiliar ingredients.
The cookbook grew naturally from that lifelong passion, combined with the popularity of her social media cooking content during the pandemic.
"Food was a way of feeling connected," she said. "I missed my family, and I started sharing recipes with fans online."
Created alongside celebrity chef Alicia,
Pop Life reimagines classic 1980s dishes while weaving in stories from Tiffany's life on the road. Family photographs feature throughout, making it as much a keepsake as a recipe collection.
And because she's Tiffany, there is an extra surprise tucked inside.
"There are two new songs at the end of the book," she revealed. "There's a QR code so you can download them. You get food and music together."
Looking ahead, Tiffany has no shortage of ambitions. One dream that particularly excites her is combining her love of travel, food and storytelling into a television series.
"I'd love to do a travel and cooking show," she said. "Something a bit like Anthony Bourdain, travelling everywhere from high-end restaurants to little family-run places."
It's easy to imagine her succeeding. After all, curiosity and connection seem to sit at the heart of everything she does.
Whether she's talking about touring with Kim Wilde, recreating recipes from around the world or debating the merits of carrots as lead vocalists, Tiffany radiates warmth and authenticity. She's one of those rare artists who makes you feel as though you've known her for years after just a few minutes of conversation.
As the interview came to a close, she selected
Radio Romance as the song she'd most like fans to hear.
It felt like a fitting choice. After all, spending time with Tiffany is a reminder of why audiences fell for her in the first place: the music may have introduced her, but it's her genuine personality that keeps people coming back.
