The team at Yorkshire’s first single malt whisky distillery, Spirit of Yorkshire, will launch a limited edition special release whisky to celebrate Yorkshire Day at its forthcoming Open Weekend on 1st and 2nd August.

Filey Bay Yorkshire Day 2026 Special Release is the seventh bottling in a limited run of releases that are launched annually to celebrate the iconic day. This year, only 1500 bottles of spirit matured in refill sherry hogshead casks will be available exclusively from the distillery in Hunmanby, North Yorkshire.

Spirit of Yorkshire’s whisky director, Joe Clark, is excited about the launch: “We firmly believe that some of the very best whisky to ever mature at our distillery comes from refill sherry casks. These casks have already gone through a maturation cycle with us, softening the oak extractives and maximising the impact of the cask in maturation. This gentle process allows our light, fruity new make spirit to interact beautifully with the oak, resulting in a wonderfully complex and elegant flavour profile. The Yorkshire Day release is always one of the most anticipated of the year and pre-sales have been buoyant.”

Filey Bay Yorkshire Day 2026, 55% abv, is described as ‘soft, fruity and complex with flavours of fruit cake, brioche, frangipane and chocolate-covered raisins.’ It features a cut-away carton that showcases the whisky’s bespoke embossed bottle and the colour of the spirit whilst detailing the story of the Yorkshire farm distillery’s journey. It costs £95 and will be available from the distillery shop and online at spiritofyorkshire.com.

Spirit of Yorkshire is a Single Estate distillery, which grows all of the regeneratively farmed barley used to produce its whisky, which is available throughout the UK and in a growing number of export markets. It was named one of the top 50 spirits producers in the world by the IWSC in 2025.
