Sheffield Steelkings Win Bronze At The 2026 Northwest European Para Ice Hockey League

The Sheffield Steelkings travelled to Laukaa in Finland on 28th and 29th March to feature in the 5th edition of the Northwest European Para Ice Hockey League (NEPIHL).
Saturday 28th March saw all the teams compete in a group stage round robin, split between group A and B, which would
determine who would progress to the semi-finals.
The Steelking’s opening game saw them score four goals to defeat the Amsterdam Tigers 4-1 before they faced NEPIHL newcomers TPS in their second and final round robin match that ended in a 1-1 draw.
These results, and TPS’ 7-1 victory over the Tigers, left the Steelkings second in Group B meaning they would come up against two-time NEPIHL champions SISU in the semi-finals on the Sunday.

In the semi-finals the Sheffield team faced tough opposition, who have never lost a game in the NEPIHL, with SISU eventually progressing to the final thanks to a 8-0 victory.
After a spirited semifinal performance, which saw the Steelkings kill a 5-3 power play, the team cemented their place in the bronze medal match against the Phantoms, who were defeated 7-1 by TPS in the other semifinal.
In the bronze medal match against the Phantoms, the Steelkings defeated the Phantoms 3-0 to claim a 3rd-place finish at the Northwest European Para Ice Hockey League.
SISU claimed their third NEPIHL title as they defeated TPS 8-0 in the final to claim the gold and continue their unbeaten run in the competition.
